Welcome to Payday.
Your favorite WLAG newsletter just got promoted—and yes, it earned it.
You know the feeling: you put in the work, you show up, you deliver… and then it hits your bank account. That’s the energy we’re going for. Meet Payday. It’s a direct deposit of smart thinking, sharp perspectives, and just enough edge to keep things interesting. It’s the kind of content intended to move you forward. And unlike your paycheck, you don’t have to wait until the 1st of the month to receive it.
Whether you’re reading on the 6 a.m. train, sneaking in a break between meetings with “the stakeholders,” or winding down with a Diet Coke at the end of the day, consider this your cue to scroll, discover, and enjoy (and maybe hit ‘fwd’ to a future WLAGer).
The Hustle That Paid Off
When LA girlie Laura Furlong made a major career pivot, moving from the fast-paced world of fashion into the high-growth sector of FinTech. Although enjoying her new industry in tech, Laura still wanted a creative outlet, so she decided to start posting videos on TikTok featuring her favorite fashion, daily life and style tips.
The hustle paid off. After just three weeks of consistent posting, Laura sold her first item on ShopMy that was not purchased by a friend or family member.
“It might sound small, but there’s something really rewarding about sharing things you genuinely love and seeing someone trust your recommendation enough to buy it.”
Whether it’s a career pivot or side hustle, Laura’s story is a reminder that you don’t have to choose between a ‘serious’ career and a creative passion. Sometimes, the best way to pay yourself back is to invest time in the things that simply make you happy.
The Conversation That Paid Off
Ask and you shall receive.
A request for advice was dropped in our #founders-and-freelancers channel from a member exploring the jump from corporate life into entrepreneurship and looking for coaching recommendations. Within minutes, women started sharing referrals, experiences, and lessons learned from navigating similar transitions themselves.
The conversation picked up so quickly that within 24 hours, WLAG turned it into a live virtual event. Date confirmed. Graphics made. Registration opened. Sold out. That’s the power of the WLAG network. One honest question turned into a room full of women helping each other move faster and feel less alone while doing it.
